Tom Reed finally held a town hall meeting in Ithaca! People began lining up to get into the town hall at 4am on a bitterly cold Saturday. The photo below of people waiting to get in was taken before 7am! Estimates put around 400 people inside, and there were at least another 200-300 people outside. Many, many thanks to the Southside Community Center for hosting and organizing this event! They rent out their space, and they are a great local center to support...so get on it folks! The ACA was the biggest topic, and Reed was shockingly unconcerned about the thousands of people in his district who will lose healthcare coverage if the ACA is repealed. Either he just doesn't get it or he's just too committed to partisan politics to drop this repeal without a real alternative. Big shout out to Nia Nunn for organizing, for keeping the conversation on track, and for putting the issues in context and pressuring Reed to address how his voting record and actions have hurt real people in our communities! Reed ended his town hall by saying "Black Lives Matter," and many thanks to all of you for being there to put the pressure on him in that moment so that he would stand up for what should be the bare minimum of human decency.
